What a high-flying celebration it was at the ribbon cutting yesterday, unveiling Wings Credit Union’s new innovative banking concept and convenient design of a completely remodeled branch. With walls moved, an open and interactive face to face ATM type stations or meeting with the numerous in person staff available in offices surrounding the perimeter, it is a beautiful design featuring emphasis on convenience, speed, expertise, accessibility, efficiency, privacy and member friendly banking.

A packed crowd of chamber members, Wings officials and staff and even many Wings members there to use the new more convenient concept and to listen to Wings Executives, the Chamber and Mayor before enjoying a catered lunch.

First up from Wings was Senior VP & Chief Member Experience Officer John Wagner followed by Apple Valley Chamber President Ed Kearney, Apple Valley Mayor Clint Hooppaw and Wings Financial President & CEO Frank Weidner, all with inspiring remarks yet all different perspectives about how important Wings is to Apple Valley. Wings Financial is a true community anchor and leader.

Wings is ranked in size as 32nd largest Credit Union in the US with over $9 billion in assets and number One Credit Union in Minnesota. Thank you to all who attended.  We were told afterwards by their Senior VP that it was their largest attended opening of any of their scores of branches and underscores how much our business community appreciates the privilege of Apple Valley being home to Wings national headquarters.  Their entire several buildings campus is the centerpiece of our downtown and skyline headlined above by their new Wings logo design. This event was a milestone on the continuing growth of Wings ever since moving to Apple Valley in 2000.

Wings which began in 1938 by aviation officials is offering pioneering state-of-the-art technologies that improve the customer/member’s experience and options and a glimpse of the future of financial services.  Once being the former Northwest Airlines Credit Union, in 2003 they changed their name to Wings and began serving ALL AIRLINES in the US and their families and are now open to anyone living in the Twin Cities region.
