PAID FAMILY LEAVE ISSUE
IT AFFECTS ALL BUSINESSES
HERE ARE THE FACTS ATTACHED
NOTE FROM US
With the Governor and the Legislature being one party and having the votes, we feel it is best to look for moderation as you will see the other states (see attachments) with the paid family leave. All but one has mostly only 12 weeks (not 24) and none have a laundry list of relatives and non-relatives you will see on the fact sheet. The list of who qualifies is excessive and an overreach.
—-Keep in mind the 24 weeks is in addition to vacation time and sick leave so it is conceivable some employees would be paid to work less than half a year and can do so for many years.
—-Keep in mind, large businesses can opt out but only if they offer up to matching 24 weeks and terms. The more large companies opting out, the more small and medium sized businesses will pay.
—-Keep in mind there is a $17 billion dollar surplus in MN yet your taxes will go up permanently. Employees can be changed to from their pay.
Based on our meetings, the BEST ACTION YOU CAN TAKE IS TO CONTACT THE GOVERNOR AND DEED COMMISSIONER STEVE GROVE.  We also ask you contact our State Representatives and our new State Senator, all of one party. If you can’t change their mind, ask for at least moderation as all amendments have been rejected by the majority so far.
