Any organization is only as powerful as their members, and our members get involved. Consider committee participation to “give back to your community” while advancing both your career leadership track and your company name. People notice!
AMBASSADORS
Our ambassadors are the eyes and ears of the Chamber, and know the pulse of business. Monthly meetings highlighted by team visits to members followed by after-hour social gatherings. A fun group to be a part of! The Ambassadors also help the Chamber bring in new members on drives and visits.
LOCAL ISSUES COMMITTEE
While some Chambers have Government Affairs, we believe the Chamber should drive the agenda with issues that may or may not involve government. This committee is poised for “quick response” for issues as they arise, in order to bring our solutions to the forefront. We demand sensible regulation, fair taxation, accountability and transparency. We’re always at the table for you.
NEXT LEADERS
These dynamic 21-40 year old young professionals are dedicated to fun, networking, lead sharing, applying technology to leverage success and brining new vitality and ideas into the Chamber. They typically meet the last Thursday of every month, and their events include business panel lunches, happy hours, “Know the CEO”, annual summer BBQ and more. As an Apple Valley Chamber member, there is no additional cost to join the NEXTLeaders group – and any number of people from your company are welcome to join! If you are interested in joining the NEXTLeaders, simply send an email to info@applevalleychamber.com to be added to the contact list.
GALA COMMITTEE
All of our annual events would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers. If you want a challenge, this is the committee for you! The Gala committee helps us create a theme, bring in auction items and pull off the largest fundraiser of the year. They meet once a week leading up to the event and works hard to make every Gala memorable and fun. Volunteering on event committees is a great way to get involved as well as meet and network with other members.
HOME & GARDEN EXPO
The Apple Valley Home & Garden Expo takes place every Spring at the Dakota County Western Service Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public (for free) and draws over 6,500 people. The expo includes over 110 exhibitors, live MN Zoo animals, free Culver’s custard, face painting, bouncy house, fire trucks and more! For information about being an exhibitor or about volunteering, please send an email to info@applevalleychamber.com.
GOLF COMMITTEE
The annual Golf Classic takes place the first Thursday after Labor Day and is held at Valleywood Golf Course. This unique tournament boasts 9 FREE Beer Holes and 9 FREE Food Holes, raffle prizes, cash prizes and lots of FUN. Always a sellout, this is just a fun committee and a huge fundraiser for the Chamber. There are several levels of sponsorship available, with prices varying year-to-year.
TOURISM / CVB COMMITTEE
The Chamber operates the Convention & Visitor’s Bureau which is dedicated to promoting the Minnesota Zoo, attractions, restaurants, shopping, sporting events and tourism marketing. You cannot join this committee as our Board and City Council assigns board members, however you can participate in other ways to help us promote. We spend over $100,000 promoting Apple Valley Tourism to bring new dollars here.
