NEW AV CARIBOU UPDATE
Last year after an intimate groundbreaking ceremony with the Chamber & City, we reported that what would be known as “Cedar Ridge Marketplace” would be built in front of Hope Church who owned the land. This new location is along Cedar & 145th St W across from Kwik Trip.
One of the new tenants to this retail space is Caribou who will be the south side of the building with a drive-up window for northbound traffic on Cedar which is high in the morning. We asked Caribou and they told us their current location at Cedar & 147th next to FedEx will remain open but all drive up will be at the new location where over 75,000 cars per day pass. Quite a few years ago, Caribou wanted to add a drive up to their 147th location but because it was reverse loop in nature and had the opposition by nearby businesses, particularly Kinko’s (FedEx now) and Applebees, the Chamber took the businesses side before City Council. This new location with both a large drive up as well as seating inside will certainly be very successful and a smart move by Caribou with Starbucks just across Cedar with long drive-up lines.
The center is owned and being built by HEMPEL REAL ESTATE. Note that Hempel also built and owns the other Apple Valley Caribou at Cobblestone Marketplace just south of Target on Pilot Knob. Just a few weeks ago, Hempel purchased as one of their gems, the 30 story LaSalle Building in downtown Minneapolis.
