SWEET TREASURES REOPENS

Ann was the Winner of Food Channel’s CAKE WARS. We reported all about her two weeks ago with Ann’s touching story about her cancer. Ann Alaboud is now back to work and open again in Apple Valley.

Back from stage-4 cancer after being open in Apple Valley for only a week, is Ann Alaboud owner (left) and 4 year employee Arthur. They were running out of pastries it was so busy yesterday. The shop was full when we stopped in (Ed Kearney had a double chocolate cupcake which was incredible). She reopened on Monday and is regaining strength. They are located across the parking lot from Texas Roadhouse in Apple Valley after years in Lakeville.

FORMER WINNER OF CAKE WARS IS BACK AFTER CANCER TREATMENTS

Ann Alaboud, owner of SWEET TREASURES which we reported July 1st about her having to close in Apple Valley after just a week open, is now back at work. Ann whom Ed Kearney Chamber President has known for many years when Ed would travel often with Ann around Apple Valley looking for the perfect spot (which she said she has now found) was almost as cheerful as ever but her strength is slowly recovering.

Ed spoke yesterday with Ann and toured where all the magic happens. Afterall, Ann is the 2016 NATIONAL TELEVISED CAKE WARS WINNER ON THE FOOD CHANNEL. She also this past February competed in another (remaining unnamed) national competition which will air in December but like any reality show, she can’t give any hints under contract.

Ann’s cancer treatments included 2 surgeries so far and 2 rounds of 4 chemotherapy treatments and another surgery coming after her last round. She is doing quite well and her strength is slowly recovering. Yet she as of Tuesday is already back to work at Sweet Treasures, making magic happen again. Having normalcy at her craft is comforting. She said “business is going crazy.”

Sweet Treasures is located in a “Sweet Spot” across the parking lot from Texas Roadhouse and next to the just opened (last Saturday) Crisp & Green and Chipotle and Starbuck’s (both now also open) and across from Target on Pilot Knob. Treat yourself and stop by for a heavenly cupcake, pastry or coffee from every kind of specialty drink you would find in Starbucks or Caribou but made by a master. Plenty of seating to catch up on your news or emails or meet a friend or client there. They’ll feel important.

Ann who relocated her Sweet Treasures from Lakeville, lives in Cobblestone Lake homes and can walk to work. Apple Valley is her home so please patronize her shop. Pick up a specialty pastry for an employee, co-worker or family member and just the packaging box or bag is a gift in itself it is so nice. If you are a Chamber member and she is in the back baking/decorating, ask to see her for a minute and tell her you read of her story and thank Ann for joining our Chamber. It will make her day as you are her peers. We welcome you back Ann from the entire local business community of Apple Valley!
