OTHERWISE ON MARCH 15TH, BUSINESSES WILL BEGIN BEING TAXED DOUBLE-DIGIT UI INCREASES
This week, the MN Senate passed a bill SF2677 which would payoff the $1.3 Billion Unemployment Insurance Deficit from the Covid-19 Pandemic which was paid out in a government-ordered emergency. It would also take $408 million from the General Fund to rebuild the UI Reserves along with other Federal unused reserves.
- MN UI Fund: $1.13 Billion Deficit
- $7.7 Surplus: Currently on hand
- $1 Billion: Federal Funds on hand in addition to $7.7 Billion Surplus
This came about from 800,000 workers on unemployment beginning May 2020 and 11.3% unemployment.
