Vaccine Priority Order in Dakota County
Yesterday on a Zoom conference call we were shown the order in which the County will follow in the near future as more COVID vaccines become available.
CURRENT COVID SHOT PRIORITY
Phase 1A
- People working in health care settings in Dakota County (doctors, nurses, etc.)
- People who provide direct care in Dakota County (firefighters, school nurses, dentists, mental health workers, etc.)
- People who work or live in long-term care, assisted-living facilities and congregate care facilities in Dakota County
Phase 1B
- Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 educators and child care workers in Dakota County
NEXT PRIORITY ORDER FOR COVID SHOTS
SEE THE FOLLOWING SLIDES. This should give you some idea as to when you can expect to receive a shot for you and your employees. Many will have other access via their healthcare plans, the state shot facilities and clinics. The County is currently looking this week and next as large available sites to give future mass shots. We proposed the former Menard’s in Apple Valley which was vacated and the former closed Sears two levels in Burnsville.
Also on our Zoom with Dakota County Health Director yesterday, the following are up-to-date numbers. We looked at all the numbers and were surprised at how low the death rate was for Dakota County. While every death is tragic to us all, we noted to the Director that of 429,000 people in Dakota County, there are 35,365 cases of Covid reported and 380 deaths. That is a rate of deaths to population of .00008 of our County population. Our County has done really well.
